FAQs
Beautiful results begin with informed recovery.
Q: Do you offer at-home visits?
A: Yes. All services are offered in the comfort of your home. I am licensed in both Ohio and Kentucky, and travel within a 30-minute service radius from Anderson Township. Extended service area visits are possible for an additional fee.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Sculpt + Heal operates as a private pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. Many clients use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) for their sessions. Upon request, I can provide you with a detailed receipt (super bill) that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. All payments are securely managed online through our electronic medical records platform.
Q: Who benefits from wellness lymphatic services?
A: Anyone seeking non-surgical support for hormonal imbalance, fatigue, fluid retention, stress, sinus issues, low immunity, or chronic inflammation. These gentle treatments (from full-body, head/neck, to targeted sessions) bring clinical-grade care into your home.
Q: Why is lymphatic drainage important after surgery?
A: Vodder Method Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) gently stimulates your lymphatic system to reduce swelling, prevent fluid buildup (like seromas), speed up circulation, and support your body’s healing response. It also improves comfort and helps your results settle more quickly.
Q: What about scar therapy , do I really need it?
A: Yes! Skilled scar therapy will protect your surgical investment by making sure your incisions heal flatter, softer and more discreetly for the most confident outcome.
*Scar Healing Is an Active Biological Process
Scars don’t just “fade naturally.” Without proper care, scar tissue can thicken, harden, and tether, leading to raised scars, poor texture, restricted movement, and distorted surgical contours.
*Early Intervention = Best Results
Evidence shows that beginning professional scar therapy within 2–3 weeks post-op (once medically cleared) leads to flatter, softer, more refined scars.
*Manual Scar Mobilization Improves Appearance
Precise, skilled scar therapy helps:
Realign collagen fibers
Increase skin flexibility
Reduce tightness, pulling, and discomfort
Prevent hypertrophic (raised) or keloid-like scars
*Silicone Alone Is Not Enough
While silicone sheets and gels are helpful, they must be paired with professional manual techniques to fully optimize scar appearance and tissue quality.
*Protect Your Surgical Investment
Smooth, supple, minimally visible scars are essential to achieving the most beautiful, polished final aesthetic.
Q: How many sessions will I need post-op?
A: Most clients benefit from:
2–3 lymphatic sessions per week for the first 3-4 weeks after surgery
2 scar therapy sessions per week for several weeks as healing has progressed
Based on the best available evidence, here is what we recommend after many common procedures:
Liposuction
Why: Liposuction causes trauma to the lymphatic system and surrounding tissues, leading to fluid retention and swelling.
Benefit: Lymphatic massage helps remove excess fluid and reduce fibrosis (hard lumps under the skin).
Recommended Follow-Up:
Sessions: 6–12
Start: MLD can begin 3–5 days post-op (as soon as you are cleared by your surgeon)
Frequency: MLD 2–3 times per week for the first few weeks, introducing scar therapy around week 2-3.
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Why: This procedure often disrupts lymphatic flow due to large incisions and tissue repositioning.
Benefit: Lymphatic massage helps reduce fluid build-up and swelling and promotes smoother healing.
Recommended Follow-Up:
Sessions: 10–15
Start: MLD can begin around 7 days post-op (when drains are removed and you are cleared by your surgeon)
Frequency: MLD 2–3 times a week for the first few weeks, introducing scar therapy around week 2-3.
Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)
Why: Involves fat grafting and liposuction, both of which contribute to post-op swelling.
Benefit: Lymphatic massage helps reduce fluid build-up and swelling which in turn minimizes contour irregularities.
Recommended Follow-Up:
Sessions: 8–12
Start: MLD can begin around 5–7 days post-op (as soon as you are cleared by your surgeon)
Frequency: MLD 2–3 times per week for the first few weeks, introducing scar therapy around week 2-3.
Breast Augmentation / Reduction / Lift
Why: These surgeries involve considerable tissue manipulation and swelling.
Benefit: Lymphatic massage can reduce swelling and help the breasts settle into their final shape more evenly.
Recommended Follow-Up:
Sessions: 6–10
Start: MLD can begin around 5–7 days post-op (as soon as you are cleared by your surgeon)
Frequency: 1–2 times per week for the first few weeks, introducing scar therapy around week 2-3.
Facelift (Rhytidectomy)
Why: Swelling and bruising are common in the facial area.
Benefit: Gentle lymphatic massage helps drain excess fluid and improve facial contour more quickly.
Recommended Follow-Up:
Sessions: 4–8 sessions
Start: 4–7 days post-op (once bruising has stabilized and sutures are secure, and you have been cleared by your surgeon)
Frequency: 1–2 times per week for the first few weeks, introducing scar therapy around week 2-3.
Neck Lift / Chin Liposuction
Why: Swelling and tightness can impact appearance and comfort.
Benefit: Lymphatic massage encourages proper fluid drainage and reduces the risk of hardening or uneven healing.
Recommended Follow-Up:
Sessions: 4–8
Start: 3–5 days post-op (once you have been cleared by your surgeon)
Frequency: 1–2 times per week for the first few weeks, introducing scar therapy around week 2-3.
Orthopedic Procedures (Joint Replacement, ACL Repair, Rotator Cuff Repair, etc)
Why: Major joint surgeries often cause prolonged inflammation, stiffness, and limited range of motion
Benefit: Lymphatic massage clears residual swelling and enhances comfort in early recovery when mobility is limited. Scar therapy supports optimal range of motion and improves both functional and cosmetic outcomes.
Recommended Follow-Up:
Sessions: 6-10
Start: 5-7 days post-op (once you have been cleared by your surgeon)
Frequency: 2-3 times per week for the first few weeks, introducing scar therapy around week 2-3.
Mohs Surgery and Dermatologic Procedures
Why: Post-surgical swelling, tenderness, and scarring are common, especially in visible areas like the face or neck.
Benefit: Lymphatic massage gently reduces localized swelling and tenderness. Early scar care minimizes hypertrophic, retracted, or highly visible scars.
Recommended Follow-Up:
Sessions: 4–6
Start: 5-7 days post-op (once you have been cleared by your surgeon)
Frequency: 1–2 times per week for the first few weeks, introducing scar therapy gradually as tissue tolerates.
Oncologic Surgeries
Why: These procedures often disrupt lymphatic pathways and may follow radiation, increasing risk of swelling, scar adhesions, and long-term tissue tightness.
Benefit: Lymphatic massage promotes safe fluid movement, especially after lymph node removal. Scar therapy restores mobility and reduces discomfort in areas impacted by trauma/radiation.
Recommended Follow-Up:
Sessions: 8-12+ depending on medical complexity
Start: 7-20 days post-op (once you have been cleared by your oncology team)
Frequency: 2-3 times per week for the first few weeks, introducing scar therapy gradually as tissue tolerates.
